European Integration has undergone a 56 years' process from the Coal and Steel Community in 1951 to today's European Union (EU). During this process, medias presented at the EU level, with their own development, are playing a more and more obvious role in the process of European Integration. Some institutions within EU, such as European Commission, Council of the EU, and European Parliament, have paid more attention to media and laid out various relevant policies. European Integration contributes to the Europeanization of the medias, and the media influences the direction of European integration once they have found their place in the EU. Between them, it's not only a process of interaction but also a process of mutual building-up. Therefore, we can expect a European Media over a long-run to emerge and play its own roles in developing a EU democracy. The emergence of a European Media is due to the increasing demands of communication brought about by European Integration, and also due to the establishment of the quasi-polity, namely, the EU.This article will take the forming European Media as the object of study, focusing upon its development following the process of European integration and the relationship between them.In this article, the main research methods applied include case study and comparative analysis, aiming to give a fairly comprehensive study on the development of European Media and the EU's media policy. This thesis has five parts, and the basic structure is as follows.Introduction. This part aims to explain the reasons why the author selects this issue and the significances of this study, and to review the current state of research about this subject. Then, I will define some key concepts in this thesis, and present the framework of this thesis.Chapter I. The author will describe the formation and developing process of the European Media, its categories as well as its operations, and so on, then describe and investigate the EU's media policy, its major policy rules and decision-making. Chapter II. In this part, the author will conceptualize the influences of the European Media on the process of European Integration by taking the Euronews as an example.Chapter III. In this chapter, the author will generalize the influences of European Integration and key EU institutes on European Media from 5 aspects, to show it is an interactive process between the European Media and European unificationConclusion. This final part will provide a theoretical explanation on the relationship between the emerging European Media and the EU institution as well as its policy development. On the one hand, they are mutual supportive, because both of them are the results of and impetus for European integration; on the other hand, they are mutual restrictive, because both of them are enslaved to the more complicated mechanism of European integration.
