Cardiovascular diseases, due to its stochastic nature and high fatality rate, have become a serious burden to medical resources worldwide. In order to improve cure level of patients, the key is to have real-time monitor on their conditions. Thus we have designed a remote electrocardiogram monitor system using MEH-9000 as the device terminal. MEH-9000 is an electrocardiograph from Zhejiang ZDInhealth Company. By adopting GPRS technology, the system has no restrictions on user's realm of activity, and more importantly the system provides a well-defined bunch of background services to have real-time monitor on patients. This paper will introduce the design and implementation of the system.By analyzing SOA(Service-Oriented Architecture) and related technologies, the system adopts service-based architecture. When implementing the services, Web Service technology is used, in addition to using WSE user token to ensure system's security. At the same time, to ensure speedy, accurate data transmission between device terminals and servers, the system employs a asynchronous, short connection, client/server communication model by stream socket based on TCP/IP protocol but adopts a asynchronous, long connection , client/server, model to communicate with the sub systems. To respond to requests from device terminals accurately and timely, two dispatch strategies are designed: overtime dispatch and priority dispatch. When patients use electrocardiograph for monitoring, if anomalies are detected by the monitor, the electrocardiograph will send electrocardiogram to the service system by GPRS immediately. The service system analyzes the data promptly, and different actions will be taken according to patients' situation. Actions include contacting patient or his/her relatives, call ambulance for emergency rescue etc. By doing so, real-time monitor of patients' condition is achieved regardless time and place; furthermore performance of the system is improved. The system also provides other services such as medical information counseling.
