Research And Implement Of Resource Description And Management System In Distance Education Based On XML

This paper,"Research and Implement of Resource Description and Management System in Distance Education Based on XML", is integrated with the"Non-Real time Education System"subject, which is a sub-system of MOST's (Ministry Of Science and Technology) National Key Technologies R&D Project of the Tenth five-year Plan:"Network Education Key Technology and Demonstration Project". Combining XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and related technologies, the thesis is aimed to research into the technical standards of distance education and bring forward resource description and management framework that is based on XML, and finally builds an effective resource description and management system in distance education based on XML.The thesis starts with the research of technical standards of distance education. First, some mature technical standards of Europe,America and some standardization development activities of international organizations are introduced, including AICC-AGR,ADL-SCORM,IMS etc. And then the technical standard of CELTS put forward by Chinese e-Learning Technology Standardization Committee (CELTSC) is introduced. Second, it introduces XML and its syntax,XML Schema,XSL (eXtensible Style Language) and XML analyzer etc,and also introduces some applications for information transmission based on XML such as XML-RPC,SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol).Based on the relative theoretic analysis, this paper introduces the design and implement of the resource description and management system in distance education based on XML. The system's framework and module relationship are firstly given, and then the detailed functions and implements of each system module are presented. In the last part of the paper, the main features and improvement direction in future of this system are given.
