The Research And Prototype Implementation Of A Web Services Description Based On Environment

Web Services are basic entities for distributing computing on Internet. Service-oriented computing will become the direction of computing technology. Some traditional service, such as shopping, banking business, and trading can be provided by Web Services. The emergence of Web Services overcomes the limitations of traditional software mode on Internet.The affiliation, communication and co-operation are keys for Web Services composition, and the description is the precondition for these keys. Exact descriptions help other resource understand, discover and compose Web Services. A good description usually supports semantic understanding and composition.How to describe Web Services in Internet environment is a new problem. At present, the industry and academe both put forward some description methods, such as WSDL, OWL-S,BPEL4WS and Petri net. However, these descriptions can only support manual discovery and composition, and the descriptions just rest on the explanation of Web Services'input and output.This paper works over a Web Services description method based on environment ontology. This method enhances the description from syntax level to semantic level. It introduces environment entities, mapping Web Services'functions and communication to them. It prepares for automatic discovery and composition. Semantic description and discovery based on environment model will become a freshly new solution for Web Servcies.This paper also implements a tool prototype for Web Services description and publish based on environment. Web Services providers can use this prototype to publish their service, and domain experts can use it to manage environment ontology. This prototype can support semantic understanding and composition of Web Services.The paper first introduces research background of Web Services, then expatiates the description method based on environment ontology. After that, the prototype is analyzed and a bookstore case is given. Finally, the conclusion and future work are discussed.
