Design And Implementation Of A Subtitling System On Mac

Program production technologies directly relates to quality and production efficiency of TV program. From both technical and market perspective, it is worth to research program production technologies, especially production technologies for high definition TV.Because of variety and difference of local languages, subtitles play an important role in TV program and movie, and subtitling is an indispensable stage in program production progress. Program production system on Mac is introduced in recent years. It is used widely and appreciated by users, except Chinese subtitling function as the biggest shortage.This article discusses the design and implementation of a subtitling system on Mac. Graphics and multimedia technologies on Mac are introduced. Based on these technologies, five candidate solutions are analyzed and compared, and optimum solution is proposed. The optimum solution, which supports hardware output of video and audio, integrates multiple technologies, including QuickTime, Quartz, OpenGL, and Core Audio.
