Due to the distinguishing advantages, such as compact size, low insertion loss, high precision, immunity to electromagnetic interference, long lifetime, feasible applications both to point and distributed sensing etc, Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor has been developed rapidly in recent years. Owing to the rapid development in computer science and the Internet, there is urgent requirement on the digitization and integration of FBG sensors. Therefore, it is of scientific significance and economic value to research and develop advanced FBG sensors with features of high precision, wide dynamic range of measurement, perfect stability, long lifetime and low cost.Firstly, the dissertation introduces the recent development of FBG sensors with details on FBG sensing principle and its applications in different fields. Based on the analysis of the most commonly used demodulation methods of FBG sensors and consideration for the project requirements, SM125-700 FBG interrogation was chosen as the core components to build the whole FBG pressure sensor system.FBG wavelength shift due to temperature and strain can causes the problem of cross-sensitivity. For FBG pressure sensor, it is troublesome to work under the environment with rapid temperature change. After careful analysis of domestic and foreign cross-sensitivity solutions, a practical differential wavelength detection scheme was proposed. Chapter 4 gives more details on the principle and application process.The dissertation carried out work on the FBG pressure sensing system's digitization and integration. In order to make good use of the original code openness of the SM125-700 software, which uses LabVIEW 7.1,we performed re-programming so as to easily analyze and process the wavelength shift signal.
