Automatic Test For Software Based On QUALCOMM Protocol

Automatic test for software is a goal pursued all the times. The 3GBSS software system of CDMA requires frequent testing to guarantee software quality. However, the traditional manual test, which works in low efficiency and accuracy, often leads to unnecessary repeated and redundant works. Thus, aimed at software system and service of 3GBSS, a set of Automatic Test tools need developing to substitute for the manual test, to a great extent, and save testers from nonessential task [1].Referring to famous domestic and foreign Automatic Test tool, the author of this paper developed a new Automatic Test tool STL (System Test Lab), which was integrated into 3GBSS software system. Basically, STL covered all 3GBSS service, including RLSA, EVDO, GoTa, IWF facsimile, OMC, Loading Test, and so on[44]. In software structure, every subsystem of STL is mutually independent. In terms of test input, STL realized the combination of user-interface and scrip, which could overcome the traditional disadvantages of purely complex scrip. According to high performance and efficiency, STL adopted automatic scrip parsing and running, as well as parallel processing in performing testing. Considering automatic comparison of STL test results, different rates were partitioned, as precisely as the atomic operation level in Qualcomm protocol and API interface [29], which minimized the cost of regression-test. With respect to the data transmission, STL utilized the theory of TCP/IP five-level model, which could assure the data validity and quality during the encapsulating process. In accordance with CMM/CMMI model [31] and developing process, not only will STL facilitate the following multi-stage and multi-time software developing, but also it enhanced testing efficiency and reduced the cost.
