Those phenomena have proved that blog had formidable and subversive power on the view point of News and Communication field. As blog has changed the previous situation of dominating social discourse by mass media, the democratic discourse comes true in deed, so the right to communicate, the right to know as well as the right to speak owned by the Mass are being improved and expanded, the fascination of blog is mainly for its unique communication characteristics which are being emerged day-to-day.The author figures out that the fundamental significance of blog is that it's a tool endows the individual with strength from internet, everyone can be an independent master on internet, expressing himself freely and establishing all-around communication relationship via the internet. Firstly this article introduces the history, the definition, the characteristics and the types of blog and explains what the differences are among blog and diary, personal website and BBS. Secondly the author studied and probed into this new medium in order to analyze how it has brought forth influence and enlightenment to the Press. At last the author made an expectation and forecast for the trends of blog in the future.
