Design And Construction Of BASS For Telecom Service Carriers

Today the telecom carriers are paying more and more attention to their Business Intelligence Analysis System. According to statistics data from MII of PRC, though the absolute number of the customers is growing rapidly, but the ARPU of carriers is being shown that have the tendency of going down,the primary causes of this is the lost of customers. According to the analysis of correlative organization, it's more difficult for the carriers to establish the relationship with a new customer than keep the relationship with a customer which already exists. So the carriers have to think about how to attract the customers, analysis the contribution of the customers and design different type of service suite which target different group of people.As one of the primary member of a Telecom BASS project,the author take the job of demand analysis, concept of holisms, and the deployment of the whole system . I also join in the works of acceptance certification of this system as the chief engineer. Based on the author's experience of the research of business intelligence system in a telecom carrier, this paper discussed the construction of the BASS based on the data ware house tech in the telecom area. In this paper, the author described the future development and the probable applications of the business intelligence to the telecom carriers. We also discussed some most probable ways to construction of the BI.The main points of this paper are as follows.1. How to build proper arithmetic models of the market.The target of a BASS is to find out the way that how to attract the customers, design different type of service suite which target different group of people and help the CEOs to make the max goals. So the most important things is to build models that have the characters of the market properly signified.2. The Logical Structure, Distribution of the Functions and the Network Topology of the system.At the technical theory level, the BASS is a borderline subject refer to database, data warehouse, online analysis process(OLAP),data mining, AI, and statistics. At the level of the deployment, it refer to multiple platforms and develop tools, so we should think over carefully how to integrate the multiple platform seamlessly. In this project, we've chosen the Oracle 9i ran on the IBM AIX 5.2 platform as the main data warehouse software, Essabase Hyperion OLAP tool suites and the Creawor smartETL as the data loader. The whole system is designed to use a thin client based on the B/S structure.3. The ETL of the data from different system with different formationThe data to be loaded into the BASS system are Extracted from multiple system with different form, so we must have them Transform into uniform before we Load them in order to have them can be recognized.4. The design of the WEB pages as the client.We use the web pages displayed in web browser as the thin client of the telecom BASS systems. The dynamic pages coded in JAVA has a lot of superior characters, such as easy to read, easy to transplant between different platforms. It is highly available to apply or be used universally.At the end of this article, we discussed the problem occurred in the course of the construction of telecom BASS. It is a sure theory that the construction, development and research of the BASS is a long time progress.
