With the emergence of 40Gbit/s communication system, the superiority of technologies related to return-to-zero(RZ) is more prominent. Superior to a conventional fiber laser, a regeneratively mode-locked fiber laser (RMLFL) operates steadily against environmental changes and could output high repetition pulse sequence with tunability both in wavelength and duration, which makes it competitive within the field of RZ light sources. When combined with supercontinuum(SC)generation and spectra filtering technologies, such a RMLFL is further improved to be an ideal broadband light source that could generate multi-wavelength output. It can be used as an advantageous tool in experimental exploration and other applied field, including wavelength division multiplexing (WDM)optical soliton transmission domain and so on.The contents of my paper are presented as following.1.R&D of LD powerFor stable wavelength and temperature, semiconductor laser needs to be drived by constant electrical current. According to compare and analysis, we make a LD power for EDFA based on analog circuits.2.Research and experiment of regenreatively mode-locked fiber laser(1)Beginning with the operation principle of regeneratively mode-locking, we discuss the basic RF components for a 10GHz RMLFL in detail. Super-mode depression is realized by introducing additive pulse limiting effect using self phase modulation induced spectral spreading in dispersion shifted fiber and spectral band pass filtering simultaneously. Principle of soliton effect in a fiber laser and the related pulse compression effect are discussed.(2)Studying of the start process and stable operation condition of RMLFL are accomplished. We present and test the method of introducing polarization stable mechanism to improve system stability other than using polarization maintaining fibers, which is achieved by coiling the fiber round a small radius plate. Wavelength and duration tunable soliton output covering C band is achieved in our RMLFL.3.Fiber supercontinuum (FSC) pulse source(1)The generation of SC and the influences of nonlinear effects of fiber on SC spectrum are analysed.(2)SC is generated with different pump power and wavelength based on...
