With the rapid development of economy, more information should be kept safely. The popularization of the microcomputer makes office automation adopted extensively. A large amount of important files is stored in the microcomputer, such as individual privacy information, business secret, and even national security secret. If this kind of files is stolen illegally, therefore the economic losses cannot be estimated. This paper gives the logon method and file encryption system based on fingerprint information for the most popular Windows 2000 operation system and the later. The user's logon and safety certification of Windows operation system is realized with cooperation of Winlogon and replaceable GINA. The proposed logon method uses fingerprint to authenticate the visitors, which replaces GINA and cooperates with Winlogon. Thus, the illegal logon is prevented and the system security is guaranteed. Meanwhile, in order to guarantee the security of information in the hard disk, even if the user's logon protection is lost, this system proposes a new encryption algorithm taking fingerprint information as key. This encryption algorithm uses 32-bits operation, so it occupies small computer resource, runs fast, and has good man-machine interface. The variable-length key is used to strengthen the processing effect, and some other standard encryption algorithms are use for the convenience of the user. This system aims at strengthening the information security of operation system. Using fingerprint information is the core part of system logon and file encryption, which is seldom adopted in computer at present. The protection of the two aspects greatly protects the information security in the computer.
