Information security is an eternal topic in the field of IT. People are always concerned about their own security situation in both the desktops and the Internet. As the first step into the system, the importance of system login speaks for itself. It is very important to establish secure and reliable system login architecture to ensure the security of information. To attack a system, hackers typically first login to the system and gain the administrator privileges. The traditional login authentication systems, such as user name and password, ID card, are not enough to guarantee the information safety, because they are open to the risk of easily lost, forgotten, stolen and figured out. Therefore, it is a challenging task to establish a perfect Windows login system.Biometrics is the intrinsic attribute of each individual. In recent years, biometric authentication attracts great interest due to biometrics’ virtue of stable, unique, great individual differences and many other advantages. It is considered to be one of the best ways to enhance the security of the system. Face recognition, as one of biometric identification methods, is simple and convenient, and cheap to capture face images; hence it has become a hot research field of biometric recognition and widely used in information security fields.Cloud computing is a hot research direction in the field of IT nowadays. It fully integrates various resources to provide convenient and efficient services. It brings new opportunity for traditional computing. It has been widely agreed to provide explicit and efficient services via cloud computing. Biometrics has enjoyed exponential growth, and will benefit from the combination of cloud computing platform.The dissertation dissects the insuperable limitations of the traditional Windows login mode, analyzes the rising fields of cloud computing and biometric, and combine them to design a cloud-biometrics based Windows login system which guarantees the security of login systems to the greatest extent. The biometrics authentication system is complete, scalable, easy to use, and low in operation and maintenance cost. The system adopts a distributed architecture, with each layer relatively independent, and uses the TCP/IP asynchronous communication model; it supports many network protocols to reduce the mutual restriction and influence between the authentication system and the software / hardware environment and operating platform as far as possible. It can be modified at any time in accordance with the actual requirement, and arbitrarily extent the ways of biometrics authentication. The cloud authentication system is simple and easy to use with its user-friendly UI interface design. The system can be used to authenticate the login process as long as a network access is available.
