With the development of technology in information field, such as electronics and communications, especially Internet, provides people with more and more methods to access different kinds of information in addition to traditional ways as radio, TV, and newspaper. Even though, analog signal based broadcasting systems (traditional radio and TV, for example) still dominate the media in our everyday life. And we are still limited in someplace to get limited service (watch TV in sitting room).Breaking the limit of common TV service on place and time, which means subscribers could access multimedia service at anytime in anyplace, is the research focus of experts and engineers in communication related domain. Today, Europe has advanced other areas in this field by having standardized digital video broadcasting and digital audio broadcasting firstly. China has the biggest group of TV and radio subscribers, so developing and popularizing digital broadcasting system, no matter digital video broadcasting (DVB) or digital audio broadcasting (DAB) systems, has more importance in our country!Channel coding is important and necessary in every digital communication systems. The quality of channel coding scheme often determines the success or quality of the whole communication system. This paper makes some simple discuss on digital broadcasting systems, especially on channel coding scheme. The paper is organized as following:The first Chapter gives the background and development of digital broadcasting. Then Chapter 2 gives some introduction about some current digital broadcasting systems, focusing on technology related to physical layer. In Chapter 3, we give a pretty detailed description of channel coding and modulation schemes of two European digital broadcasting systems.Chapter 4 recommends a Turbo coding scheme for digital amplitude modulation broadcasting (DAMB) system after the introduction of Turbo codes. Some analysis about the recommended coding and modulation scheme based on the simulation results is given in Chapter 5.Finally, we give a simple conclusion.
