The reservoir takes a great influence to the people's life, it can reduce the flood peak, promote local agricultural development, solve the potable water problem and also can be used to generate electricity. Therefore it is very important to monitor the reservior as it relates to the people's life and property security.This thesis topic is to design an actual project. After field reconnaissance and analysis of the problems of the original Daliujia reservior monitoring system, we solved it using the embedded technology, which includes using the S3C2410 as the kernel of the hardware, transplanting the embedded Linux as the operation system, developing the device driver and the application program.This paper introduces the structure of the Daliujia reservior depth and flux monitoring system and the process of developing both hardware system and software system. Firstly, it describes the whole background and the actual significance of Daliujia reservior monitoring system. Secondly, it introduces the embedded Linux concept and the structure of monitoring system. Thirdly, it details the system platform and hardware, mainly the hardware system of each module's electric circuit design. Fourthly, it goes into the system platform operating system transplantation, which contents modification of the Boot Loader, reduction of the Linux kernel, building up of the root file system and so on. Finally it presents the designing of the device driver and the application program, which covers the communication protocal in the system. This article has finished all the functions of the system, which applied embedded system application technology, Linux operation system, TCP/IP transmission technology, it has also described more detailed introduction to these technologies. The system has finally accomplished with RS232, RS485 and RJ-45 industrial commonly used communication agreement, and now it has been tested in the Daliujia reservoir for 3 months and receiving an excellent feedback.
