Research On Access Control Of The Information Grid

Information Grid is a system using the Grid technologies to achieve the sharing, managing of information resources and to provide information services. This dissertation is based on the research work of the Vega Information Grid project, and addresses the access control mechanism of the information grid.In this dissertation, a theoretic method of the research in the access control of the information grid in the (U, IS, OP) space which is consisted of the three orthogonal concepts of Users(U), Information Space(IS) and Operations(OP) of information grid were proposed, and this is the foundation of the research work in the access control of the information grid. The Space provides a method to research the access control of the information grid formalized, and we define the key concepts of the access control of the information grid in the space.The principles of the Vega Information Grid is Versatile Service, Enable Intelligence, Global Uniformity and Autonomous Control. This dissertation describes the essential issues of the research work of the information grid based on the principles and main requirement features of the Vega Information Grid, and defines the problem of versatile in the (U, IS, OP) space. These essential issues are the characters of the access control of the information grid.This dissertation analyzes the access control mechanism of the Enterprising Information Portal developed by the NCIC, ICT, which is a correlative research field of the information gird, and has been applied in enterprising and research institute. This dissertation presents more problems that should be resolved by the access control mechanism of the information grid based on the implement of the Enterprising Information Portal.This dissertation presents the IG-RBAC model which is based on the proposed NIST standard for role-based access control, this model is the role-based access control model of information grid and it is defined in the (U, IS, OP) space. This dissertation defines the concepts such as role and the role hierarchy, proves the versatile of the IG-RBAC model, and presents the unification of concepts of roles, users and permissions. The IG-RBAC model is a part of the research work of the Vega Information Grid.
