With the globalization of economic and rapid development of Internet, it makes the information very important to the enterprise. To improve the capability of competition, more and more enterprises have developed Management Information System (MIS) and realized managing modernization and information drive. In the course of information drive being transformed, it is one of indispensable conditions for enterprises to have a reasonable, safe, reliable and extensible MIS. At present, most of MIS are based on Client/Server(C/S) architecture that is two-tiered. With the complexity of structure and expansion of scale in MIS, C/S architecture exposes its structural defects little by little, For example, expensive cost in installation and maintenance and bad transplant. To solve new needs, multi-tiered architecture comes. Compared with CIS arehltecturemulti — tiered architecture has more advantages:more maintainable Prograrns, reliable security management, smart system structure and suPPorting distributeden vironment. In addition, it supports heterogeneous databases and has a good use.Presently , there are there technologies that can implement multi-tiered architecture. They are CORBA(OMG),.Net (Microsoft) and J2EE(Sun). J2EE(the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) is a system architecture that uses Java 2 Platform to simplify the complex Problem related to development, deployment and management in enterprise applications. It Provides middle-tier integration framework to meet cheap, more reusable, more reliable and more extensible demands. By offering united platform, J2EE reduces the expense and complexity in developing multi-tiered applications and also has a good support to integrate Old applications.
