With the development of Internet, multimedia has developed a lot. Traditionally, the Internet was designed for non-realtime data communication, it only transfer packet through a way called Best effort. Through this way, all traffic streams compete for the network resource fairly and the router send data packets to the top of it's bent, it doesn't guarantee reliability, delay and jitter. This type of service is proper for non-realtime traffic, such as Email, Ftp and WWW, but not for multimedia because distributed multimedia has a strict requirement for bandwidth as well as low delay and jitter. As distributed multimedia becomes more and more popular, the traditional IP network cannot afford the requirement of such applications. Such condition goes against the improvement of multimedia. Aiming at this fact, IETF raised a solution which is called Diffserv Model. This model can offer different service according to different traffic type, so it achieves QoS guarantee.This paper made a deep study in Diffserv architecture and the key technology of the model. Main works has been done as follows: Studied the architecture of Diffserv model as well as the scheduling mechanism in core routers, raised a holistic project which can realize the Diffserv model, and choose WRR algorithm as packets scheduling mechanism in the project. At last, verified the project through programming in NS.
