Because its high-power, high efficiency and high stability, diode laser array has been one of the most competent laser source and laser. The developed countries have invested great people power and money to research diode laser arrays. High power diode laser array has many important advantages: small volume, low weight, high efficiency, long age and directly-modulate. It has been used widely in optical directing, pumping sources, materials processing, laser medicine, laser communication, entertainments and military region. In many facets, high power diode laser array has replaced many conditional solid-state lasers and gas lasers.High power diode laser array coupling with optical fiber not only make the use of diode laser easier, but also improve the dissymmetry of its output light beam and in the meantime, the output light coupling between the LD sources becomes easier and the power becomes higher. In the region of materials processing with high power diode laser array, people should couple the beam from diode laser with optical fibers in high efficiency. There are two practical meanings to do the coupling– first, the optical fiber is so soft that it can be bent anyway, and laser energy can be directed into small space more flexible; second, fiber coupling can improve the output beam quality of the diode laser array and can increase the power of diode laser array by binding up more fibers.The direction of my thesis is creating a new type coherent coupling diode laser array with high optical quality by bidirectional coupling with optical fiber array. Thus the welding quality and welding speed can be improved.In my research experiments, the cylinder fiber lens is used as a coupling lens system firstly. Through the experiment, the coupling rules and methods are discussed. By a new thought in theory, a double facet micro-lens used in coupling optical fiber with diode laser is designed.
