Study On The Agent-based Individualized Distance Education System

E-learning is a new way of teaching method in recent years, and it plays a significant role in the national education strategy. Breaking though the limitation of time and places, e-learning is extremely helpful in coping with some educational problems like low efficiency of teaching resource usage, unbalance of regional educational level, etc.With the development of distance education, people has realized that traditional way of teaching is not suitable for e-learning which is now based on computer network other than classroom in common sense. Thanks to the interactive feature of computer network, the status of students during the learning process has strengthened: no longer acting as passive knowledge receivers, they are initiators. In order to bring distance education into its full potential, many researchers, including experts of education, have agreed that a"student centered"pattern of teaching process should be adopted. However, such a suggestion gives education software system a new requirement, especially on the issue of how to realize students'central role in the system. Commonly, the features of mankind's individuality or requirement are: diversity, illegibility, and uncertainty, so it is very difficult to design such a system and meet each user's individual needs. General speaking, the premise is that the system can"recognize"or"understand"the students'individuality automatically and give response accordingly. The researches in this aspect are of great significance today. With the combination of related new achievements and system design, the research can be pushed forward effectively. Some applications of new technologies have already improved our work, such as Data Mining, Machine Learning, Intelligent Searching, and Multi-Agent.Intelligent Agent is an crucial part of AI research. As the core technology, Agent is regarded as a software entity which is capable of recognizing, self-study, and behaving automatically. In a real system, Agent program can accomplish a series of tasks initiatively according to user's demands, so the system's intelligence and adaptive ness is somewhat realized.
