The Study On Knowledge Portal System Based On Struts

Online education organizations are booming. But there are still lots of problems to establish real online education system, such as building network resources and avoiding Information Isolated Islands. Obviously, information and resources are vital to e-Education. With the rapid development of Web, e-Education tends towards web-based portal, which will provide authoritative services.Main tasks of the paper:(1) In the distance education college of the universities, information systems built in different stages resulted in Information Isolated Islands. To avoid them, the concepts of EKP(Enterprise Knowledge Portal) are taken in and applied to distance education colleges. By referring to the successful application in the enterprises at home and abroad, the solution of education knowledge portal is raised to solve the problem of Information Isolated Islands. Meanwhile, basing on the current situation of distance education colleges and contrasting to other solutions to Information Isolated Islands, such as Grid and Semantic Web, the paper emphasizes the advantage of education knowledge portal.(2) Analyze and discuss the critical technologies including J2EE, MVC and Struts. With the technology system and design mode of EKP, the concept of Knowledge Management and the surveys of the distance education colleges' current situation, finally build a proper and feasible education knowledge portal system. The construction of the system could use the tools just like UML to make out the system's functions and technology construction.(3) The critical component of web-based curriculums' building and managing is designed and developed here. The education knowledge portal system can be widened and redeveloped conveniently and feasibly owing to the application of Struts.The paper is on the basis of my social practice in East China Normal University Distance Education College. During the experience in the Distance Education College, I did some relative researches, made some interviews with the teachers there and made summaries and evaluation of my own work. All these accumulation provided valuable ideas and rich reference materials to me and contributed to the education knowledge portal system's design and development.
