Recently, the market has higher requirement on the broadband wireless network, and the access techniques based on IEEE 802.16 standards become the focus of the industry. It's an important challenge to provide different QoS guarantee for different services. The standard defines a connection-oriented MAC protocol, and a mechanism for QoS guarantee. However, the scheduling algorithms for uplink and downlink bandwidth allocation in a single frame are left undefined. To provide QoS support for different types of applications with efficient bandwidth utilization, a resource scheduling algorithm on MAC layer is proposed in the thesis. The thesis analyzes and studies the IEEE 802.16d/e standards, then, proposes a new QoS architecture for OFDMA/TDD systems in PMP topology, which contains the admission control mechanism, the division of the uplink/downlink subframes and the uplink/downlink resource allocation algorithms. In OFDMA/TDD mode, the proposed architecture can guarantee the basic requirements of different connections. The downlink resource allocation algorithms can efficiently allocate resources for different types of applications with certain bandwidth utilization. The uplink resource scheduling algorithm is designed based on the priority. It can adjust the granted resource according to the network situation, and it considers the fairness among SSs. At the end of the thesis, the simulation results are given to verify the performance of the algorithms. We compare and discuss the results using the proposed algorithms and the DFPQ algorithm.
