Conditional Access technology (Pay-TV) has been considered the motivity and trend of the development of Digital Television (DTV) in the globe. But in the common Pay-TV system, the key which is used for decoding is stored in the Set-Top-Box (STB). When the secure system is cracked by the hacker, the enterprises must change all the source decoder which has been placed in the STB, it will cost much more than the followed scheme, Smart Card scheme. In the Smart Card scheme, the decrypted module is separated from the source decoder, when the key or the cryptogram algorithm is cracked, replacing the card which is much cheaper than the source decoder would be a good solution.This paper discusses the smart card decryption scheme which is used for Conditional Access (CA) System. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Chapter 1 gives an overview of the worldwide studies of the smart card technology and CA technology, and put forward the direction of this dissertation.Chapter 2 discusses the principium of smart card and coherent ISO 7816 standards, then analyzes the principle of CA. At the end of this chapter, describes two kinds of algorithms: DES and RSA..Chapter 3 studies thoroughly the Chip Operating System (COS) of smart card. Firstly, disusses thd function of Common COS. Secondly does the research on the four modules: transmission management module, security management module, command analysis module and file management module. Finally, studies the instruction system of COS upon a dedicated instruction of SmartCOS-XC.Chapter 4 discusses the SmartCOS-XC and gives the design and implementing of a smart card file system framework. Based on this, this paper gives a simulation of head-end encryption of Entitlement Control Message (ECM) and Entitlement Management Message (EMM), and implements the decryption of ECM and EMM in the smart card.Chapter 5 discusses the characteristic and structure of decoding chip-STi5518, studies its signals and program interface functions of smart card. At the end of this chapter, gives the smart card decryption solution of STi5518.In conclusion, describes the works this dissertation has finished and gives the direction of the next research work.
