Sensor, the central part of temperature instrument, is an important step in control system. It is used in industrial and live affairs so widely that people study it unceasingly for a long time. There are two directions to the research of sensors: on one side, to develop new materials, principle and method; on the other side, to take full advantage of the existing materials.The idea of combined sensor is to use several sense organs which have quite different performance in measuring, with MCU to implement the arithmetic, thus we can get a combined sensor with all the advantages of several sense organs.We present temperature combined sensor as an example because of its widely use. We use platinum which has a good stability and linearity and semiconductor which has a good rapidity and sensitivity as the basic materials for measuring to design a kind of combined temperature sensor, and analyze its performance index. The simulation shows combined sensor has a better performance than either platinum sensor or semiconductor sensor. To verify the value of combined sensor, combined temperature sensor is used in the improvement of temperature control of rubber factory, and it makes a satisfactory result through abbreviating the time constant in measuring loop.The idea of combined sensor is not limited in the design of temperature sensor. If we could find materials which have quite different performance in measuring other physical quantity, we can get other combined sensors either. With its simple structure and excellent capacity, the method of combining is a new attempt to sensor design.
