| In order to prolong the service life and cut the failure rate down, a routine test,repairing and maintenance on power cable is needed during its operation. Once the powercable goes faulty, we need to find out the faulty point quickly and accurately, and repair itin time to reduce the loss caused by power interrupt.Currently, the management of cable test data in power utilities and industrialcustomers is not satisfactory. The data of cable are still recorded by paper rather thancomputers. The information collected is messy and incomplete. It's hard for people tosearch the needed information and process, analyze it. The management of cable operationstill depends on the workers' experience and familiarity on cable network, thus quality ofcable maintenance and fast location of fault point can not be guaranteed.A cable test information management system based on simple GIS is proposed. Itmanage cable information and test data, such as cable structure and material, layout,preventive test data, fault location data, by a computer. The management of cableinformation and test data is improved significantly. It also provides automatic andcomputer-aided analysis of test data collected from testing instruments.The domestic and international developments on cable information managementsystem are reviewed. The knowledge related, such as cable test fundamental, GIS, MIS,and Modbus protocol used to collect data from cable testing instruments, are introduced.The structures, functions, design requirements of the system are described. The option ofdevelopment tools is introduced. The key design techniques, functions of main classes andlogical structure of database are presented in details. Finally the design of main HMIs areintroduced.The system, which is adopted object-oriented programmer method and followed adesign principle of practicability, cost-effectivety and reliability, has a good versatility andexpansibility. It laid a sound foundation for future development of cable informationmanagement system. The application of this system will improve the quality of cablemaintenance, reduce fault rate and the loss caused by cable faults. |
