Research & Development Of Document Management System Based On Workflow Technique

Today, world economy and technology are developing rapidly. Enterprises face more and more chances and challenge than before. To live and develop in this environment, they must bring new techniques to bear upon their management. In this process of management, many documents can be made. On one hand, managing these documents is a very hard job, if these documents can be managed under the help of computer, it cannot be questioned that work efficiency must be higher than before and on the other hand, flows of these documents management are not constant. So applying J2EE and workflow techniques in these flows can streamline and improve processes of the management of documents. In this way, these enterprises can heighten their work efficiency and reduce cost more than their competitions.On the background of CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperative Work) item of SWHI(Water Resources And Hydropower Design And Research Institute Of Sichuan), in this paper, the application of J2EE and workflow techniques on constructing enterprise documents management system is discussed. There are four parts in this system: (1) Document flow definition. We analyze SWHI' document flow seriously, and then we carry out flow definition and bring out a process model of document and its XPDL file. This XPDL file will be read by workflow engine. (2) Workflow monitoring. This part makes administrators trace and monitor all executing transactions at that time conveniently, so they can clearly know about the proceedings and handling result of all kinds of transactions (3) Workflow engine. Workflow engine can finish flows instance and processes dispatch after reading XPDL files. What's more, it can call business components to finish corresponding function. (4) Workflow executing. In this part, we write many business components according to SWHI' document flow and finish many document management tasks.This paper brings in a settle case of enterprise document management system from application viewpoint.
