Cell Phone: The Return Of Interpersonal Communication

Under the modern science and technology impetus, cell phone is already beyond the pure communication facility and has become a significant media, which has widespread uses. Through the author's brief review of the researches on cell phone as the media, it showed that, in the economical domain, the cell phone has impelled the development of mobile communication industry rapidly; In the social domain, the communication method based on cell phone as the media terminal is carrying on huge transformation, it already has a great influence to people's daily life as well as the communication theory research. Based on this fact, this thesis has practical importance and academic value.The medium evolution history from this thesis showed that gaining and expressing information are humankind's eternal pursue, yet the demand of gaining and expressing information in the evolution process is not balanced. Before the emergence of the mass media, what humankind more interested was the method of how to surmount the space and time; after the emergence of the mass media, the interests changed to the expression of how to surmount the space and time.
