This paper are constituted by two parts. In the fisrt part, this paper studied the theory and practice of an X-band RF integrated switch. Nowadays , RF/MW techniques tends to high integration, high performance with low cost. However, the traditional GaAs process are very expensive which prevent this process from being popular. People developed high-resistivity silicon substrate to mitigate the loss in silicon. In this paper ,we designed and fabricated an X-band RF integrated switch. We performed measurement on this switch and get good results which matched the simulation result and met the design specification. After analyzing the results ,we obtained many experience on designing RF integrated switch on high-resistivity silicon which will give us deep design insights. In the second part , this paper studied the theory and practice of quadrature-phase LC VCO which is used in WLAN 802.11n transceiver's frequency synthesizer of Winbond Electronics Co.Ltd (shanghai),and many key techniques in circuit implementation were explained in a simple way.First ,this paper briefly introduces the history and the fundamental theory of oscillators. Second, this paper studied the most popular models of phase noise as the most important part of this paper: Linear time invariant (LTI) and linear phase time varying (LTV) which is developed by Ali.Hajimiri. The underlying physics of LC oscillators is analyzed in detail. Then we proposed three new design techniques to reduce the phase noise: top-biased structure, swiched biasing and cross switched biasing control. In the end , detail design process of the 3.2GHz-4.0GHz quadrature-phase LC VCO in TSMC 0.18μm RF/Mixed CMOS process which is applied to WLAN 802.11n transceiver was given. The process of QVCO circuit is running. The measured results can not be given out in this paper, due to limited time.
