With LCD developing from the traditional TN, STN and TFT to the tendency of reflective color, highly integrated, widely view angle and plastic film, the higher demand on the testing of the LCD's key parameters which have the critical function on the LCD's quality is presented. So we undertake the research and development of the Automatic LCD Parameters Synthetic Tester which is funded by Innovation Found for Technology Firms of department of science and technology China. This system features integration, automation and high precision.The paper researches mainly several key techniques for the mainbody of this tester, which are as follows: Firstly, a kind of veer reflecting prism spatially is designed according to the theory of full-reflection, which realizes the characteristic of automatic polarization compensation and eliminates the system error produced by using single reflecting prism or mirror aluminium-plate as veer optical-component. Secondly, fixed-angle-turn-equipment has been manufactured successfully to control veer reflecting prism, which features simple architectures, low cost and site-fit with high precision. Lastly, microscope optical system with high precision is designed, which improves further the testing precision of spectrum characteristic aiming at the tiny color filter film and reduces the error resulting from the mixed light when we measure the spectrum characteristic with the spectrophotometer.In this paper, the first chapter introduces briefly the LCD correlative knowledge, the second chapter analyses the polarization in the process of light transmission, designs a kind of veer reflecting prism and proves that such prism possesses the characteristic of automatic polarization compensation by using experiment and Matlab software.
