The cost of warehouse management occupies a very large proportion of the final retail price. Therefore, efficient management of warehouse operation is a vital concern in logistics field. In this dissertation, a B/S based & multi-tier warehouse management system is put forward. By controlling the stock information at any moment, the decision-making department can maximize its core competitive advantage. In this dissertation, the theory and implementation method of the B/S & multi-tier architecture is reviewed first based on the whole framework design of WMS. Applicability and expandability of WMS is presented, and the self-defining flows and KBS (knowledge base systems) are discussed. The achievements of these key technologies are listed as follow:(l)Based on Browser/Server mode containing User Interface Layer, Business Logic Layer and Data Service Layer etc, the technique of XML is used in shielding the differences between various hardware platforms and database systems, establishing the uniform database-accessing interface. Overall it provides reliable information on inventory, high efficiency of materials handling and harmonic order-picking.(2)By the effective user-control and interface design, WMS integrates and implements several dominating functional modules. In the mean time, the flows can be redefined by users according to the module-authorization plus the standard in or out flows.(3) Standard AS/RS (Automatic Storage and Retrieve System) management strategy KBS and general logistics dispatching KBS are established by analyzing manufacture and stock information. Additionally, in the consideration of future applications, OPC-based universal interface is designed to conveniently append extra equipments to the former system. In the end of this dissertation, real life examples of WMS are given, previous researches are summarized, and future improvements are suggested. |
