Forest fires affect the environment heavily. It destroies the forest, debases the forest quality, decreases the species, and forces the rare Aves to transplant. Furthermore, when the forest is on fire, it brings much smoke. The smoke pollutes the environment and harms the health of people. However, the research we've done mainly based on the principle in the past, moreover, the research on the experiments needs a lot of money and is difficult to realize. The virtual reality (VR) technology solves this problem commendably. With this method, the investment is not large as before and it is easy to simulate the forest fire. Besides, constructing the forest fire model to simulate the virtual forest fire with the influence factors is a good choice. It can make a good decision to put out the forest fire, and then improve the effiency of putting out the fire, cut down the loss in the maximum.This paper makes use of VR technology, constructs needed models like trees, the terrain, houses, roads etc, builds a 3-dimensional forest fire environment, researches and simulates the forest fire, and then makes out a plan to put out the fire.First, according to the principle of topography and remote sensing image, gets the DEM and sensing image data, builds a 3-dimensional terrain; then adds other constructed models such as the trees, houses, the observing tower to the terrain, forms a 3D virtual forest fire environment. What's more, optimizes this scene. After optimizing this scene, the approximate Rothermel model and infulencing factors are considered to simulate the forest fire. However, the same algorithm can't be applied in both 2-dimensional scene and 3-dimensional scene. So in the former one, the modified CA algorithm is advanced. This algorithm is better than CA algorithm in the boundery, especially when the mesh we chosed are larger. It makes the errors in the least. In the latter one, the 3D CA algorithm is userd. This algorithm is the expandment of the modified CA algorithm. Using the modified CA algorithm, we can get the recent plane coordiate of the kindling point. At the same time, with the 3D CA algorithm, compute the area and height of the fire and ensure the synchronization of the two ones.
