Data acquisition system have been put into use of Measure, Control, Examination, Science experiment and so on. During these 20 years recently, the technology of Data acquisition improved greatly because of a series of advanced technologies such as MCU, of which GSM has come into wide use for its superiority properties .According to an actual problem of automation data acquisition of water situation, this thesis proposes and designs a system using the SMS of GSM as the means of data acquisition. The system can do data collecting and processing and also give an alarm signal if water level exceeds the upper or lower safety limit of water level, so that we can handle the water situation in time. This system consists of GSM module, single chip computer, A/D conversion, PC and water level sensors and bases on GSM network to monitor the situation of some area. Then, the resources of water in the area can be used efficiently .The system is composed of two parts, terminals of water information collecting and the center of control and management. The information collecting terminals confirmed as unique ID, including single chip computer, A/D conversion and water level sensors, finish the process of collecting, enlarging and filtering of the wave and then send the data of water level to the center of control and management by means of SMS. The center of control and management, including GSM module, management module, database and so on, analyzes the data from the collecting terminals to produce some charts for processing of data and sends controls to the terminals .
