With the continued increasement of applications and the requirements of variety usage, the security of the network is becoming more and more important. In the traditional authentication ways, the packages in campus network are complicatedly treated. The result in the network is that the network traffic was heavily burden and the bottleneck of traffic can be easily formed. While the resolves by appending network equipment, will not only enhance the cost of the network but unable to satisfy user's requisition on security, efficiency, high quality and low cost. The paper based on analyzing the existing authentication method Web Portal, PPPoE, 802.1X, and on the protocol architectures, operation mechanism and technological characteristics. The modifications of protocol RADIUS have been proposed for campus network identity authentication. And the transparent gateway– IPTILTER has been introduced. On the research of the whole access identity authentication, including protocol, client and server, the frame of authentication system in which has been put forward. The new ideas and methods for runnable and manageable campus network have been provided.
