The Design And Implementation Of A Workflow System For Cooperative Editing Environment

With the rapid development of computer and network technology, Computer Support Cooperative Work (CSCW) has been widely used in more and more applications. Cooperative editing, as a typical application of CSCW, has become an important issue of the study and application of CSCW. At the same time, workflow management technology, which is one of the carrier to realize CSCW, is one of the most rapidly developed technologies in computer science in the recent years, and it has become a hot research topic in IT field nowadays.By analyzing the characteristic of cooperative editing and workflow, the paper incorporates the idea of workflow into cooperative editing, and introduces the design and implementation of a workflow system that is suitable for cooperative editing.Firstly, the paper introduces some related technical background of cooperative editing and workflow. Secondly, it makes an analysis about the shortcomings of the traditional cooperative editing mode. After analyzing and comparing some of the current supporting techniques of the cooperative editing, the paper makes a conclusion about the shortages of them. Thirdly, the design goal and design principle of the system are put forward, and the system's model design is proposed. Then, the paper discusses the implementation in every important modules of the system in detail. By giving a demonstration about some important modules, it lays out the characteristics of the system and validates its design. Finally, the paper gives an overview of the future work.The workflow system introduced in this paper can be widely used in the field of cooperative editing. Because of its favorable practicability and flexibility, it can greatly increase the cooperative editing's efficiency.
