The direct current motor is not only the earliest electromotor in the world but also the earliest electromotor with function by regulating speed. Dc motor, which is the optimum selection among most speed regulating motors at present, has good linear speed regulating characteristics, simple control performance, high efficiency and perfect dynamic characteristics. Serially excited motor is one of Dc motors. Its exciting winding and armature winding are supplied by two electrical powers separately. Serially excited motor has characteristics of large speed regulating extend, environmental protection and high efficiency and is widely applied in some systems that the drive and rotating speed of mainframe are relatively stable.The thesis discourses on the design process of separately excited motor controller software in detail. Firstly it analyses the operation theory of Dc serially excited motor and the principle and method of how MCU controlling Dc motor. And it explores the feasibility of using MCU (MC68HC908MR32) to control serially excited motor. It goes on to introduce the hardware design of serially excited motor controller, the function of hardware division according to main control MCU and design and realization of hardware module testing software. Then the thesis states design decision on controller software system and the flow chart or the calculating description on sub-process of key module. Finally it sets forth the perceptions and experiments on test of software function module and combination test of software and hardware. It also covers there is room for further improvements in the whole system.
