The Design And Implementation Of Forest Terminological Information System

With the development of science and technology, the human come into the information era; the development of the terminology come into the digitalized era; and the terminological databases are more popular. The terminological database began in the 1960's and developed rapidly overseas. Till now, there are terminological databases in most subjects overseas. There are also many forestry terminological databases and information retrieval online systems. However, the establishment of terminological databases did not start until 1980's and developed in 1990's in China. The quantity of terminological database in China was rather few and developed slowly. Encyclopedic terminological database and Chinese standard terminological database are the representatives of China's terminological databases. Besides, the development of interdisciplinary terminological database is imbalance. Although some terminological databases include forestry terminology, they are not specialized forestry terminological databases. The amount of forestry terminology is insufficient and the renewal is lagged. The online retrieval systems are extremely few.The purpose of this paper is to establish forestry terminological information system, and offer digitalized terminology for forestry production, management and scientific research. The main results are as follows: First of all, based on the study of forestry terminological standards and materials related at home and abroad, by embodying and setting the terminology of forestry, the terminology is categorized by subject and coded standardized. Secondly, a forestry terminological database is established based on SQL Server database and transformed the terminology to TBS which is the backed database of Chinese forestry information network, the forestry terminological database has issued on the internet. Finally, in order to manage the forestry terminology, C# is used to develop forestry terminological information system and the functions of multi-user management and multi-purpose are reached.
