With the increaseing of output in Integrate Circuit by 42.38 percent speed, the scale of market is expanding fast in the manufacture of PCB.Stricter request is required in manufacture efficiency and production quality for PCB's manufacture in china. However, many enterprises adopt the means in manipulation by hand when they machined the orientation hole for PCB. Thus, it will bring about lots of disadvantage in position precision and labour intensity and it is difficult to solve the problem in manufacturing orientatiaon hole in the face of many enterprises.This paper developed the image orientation system baced on the digital image processing technology and practice circumstances through a mass of market research and literature reference. The system is composed of CCD camera, image collection card, computer system and PCB numerical control drill press. The simple characteristic image round the orientation hole is pick up by the CCD camera and image collection card, then relative coordinate of the center of characteristic image, which help to confirm the relative position of the orientation hole, will be got by the image processing technology involved wiping off image noise, image segmentation, picking up image characteristic margin and resolving the center of characteristic image. Thus, we can control the PCB drill press to finish the process of orientation hole based on the relation between the reference frames.Due to using the modularization design idea and providing manifold methods to deal with the image data, the system meet the need in different condition and improve the some slow arithmetic to increase the processing speed considering of the request in processing efficiency that do some necessary optimize for processing arithmetic in certain time range.The system's software also can be expand in function according to need and satisfy the need of PCB enterprise which is small in economy scale and all of this is own to adopting the design principia including well compatibility, well expansibility, friendly interface and low cost.
