Resource Management In Grid

In this thesis, we introduce some basic knowledge of Grid computing, such as what Grid is, which standards to identify Grid, the similarity and differences among Grid, Internet and Power Grid. We explain the architecture of Globus, which is the most powerful Grid middleware. And the important components in Globus Project are: Grid Security infrastructure (GSI) , Globus Resource Allocation Manager (GRAM), Metacomputing Directory Service (MDS), Global Access to Secondary Storage (GASS), Globus Replica Management.Quorum systems are well-known tools for ensuring the consistency and availability of replicated data despite the benign failure of data repositories. So we try to introduce Quorum to Grid resource scheduling and management. QoS Quorum is generated by User's SLAs. Together with the available resources in current Grid environment, we can offer a scheduling scheme to satisfy User's requirements of QoS service class by using Heuristic Optimization Algorithm.We carry out experiments based on the electrocardiogram (ECG) application for health care, because this application needs transferring lots of data and analyzing complicated signal of ECG. Experiment results show that our scheme can reduce the total execution time of ECG application by using proposed heuristic algorithm compared to policy based management scheme.
