As data warehouse (DW) is an effective processing tool for the customer, it is necessary for the enterprise to construct the DW that can be linked on it to make the online analytical processing (OLAP) and data mining. With it to get a scientific reference for the enterprise management decision, to improve the controlling for products stock, to reduce the promotion cost for common products, to get a more highly effective making decision-making. Therefore the research of construction data warehouse has been becoming more and more important.This article has done more research and attempt on data warehouse construction, and actually finished the construction through studying the data warehouse system development process and existing theory. It also compared the differences between database and DW in the foundation of analysis the enterprise actual demand to design the DW system through combination of data-oriented and demand-oriented. The article introduced the DW system development pattern, and explained the establishment of data model, data storage as well as data extracting and loading and OLAP, elaborated the DW system realization process, and done analysis and research about the relation database, dimension, the cube, the MDX (Multi-dimensional Expressions) of important data source and SQL inquiry in data warehouse system. In this way to find an effective optimization method, to realize the whole enhancement of inquiry performance of the data warehouse during optimization of each side.
