This thesis studies on the growth and laser performance of Nd.KGW crystal. Firstly, according to the characteristics of Nd:KGW laser crystal, design a reasonable temperature field and choose a suitable flux. Nd:KGW crystals have been grown by TSSG method conbined with Kyropoulos method. The crystal dimension is up to 15mm × 15mm × 20mm.Secondly, the structure and the characteristics were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, TG-DAT, infrared spectrum and Raman spectrum. Lastly, the laser performance of the Nd:KGW crystal was tested. The maximum laser output of a 5mm × 5mm × 2mm Nd:KGW microchip was 326mW at wavelength 1.06p.m, when it was pumped by a laser diode of 900mW. The slope efficiency and light-to-light conversion efficiency were 62.7% and 36.2% respectively. The laser threshold was 380mW. The maximum laser output of a Φ2.6mm × 4mm Nd:KGW rod was 305mW at wavelength 1.06μm, when it was pumped by a laser diode of 900mW. The slope efficiency and light-to-light conversion efficiency were 57.8% and 33.8% respectively. The laser threshold was 380mW.
