This article analyzes and studies the raw material handling, growth technology, crystal structure, character and defect of the ytterbium doped natrium yttrium tungstate laser crystal. Firstly, according to the problems existing in the crystal growth, this article studies the process of the raw material handling, which concludes three processes, raw material pre-proceeding, the first step solid-state reaction and the second step solid-state reaction. Secondly, on the bases of analyzing of the factors that affect the crystal quality and the growth technology such as the after heater, temperature field, coil, crucible and etc. getting the parameter of crystal growth: pull velocity 2mm/h, revolve velocity 35r/m; Thirdly, analyzing crystal structure and character by X-ray diffraction, infra-red spectrum, Raman spectrum, absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum. Lastly, the crystal defect was observed and analyzed, and measures of improving crystal quality were put forward.
