Along with developing of InGaAs laser diode,the advantage of Yb:YAG crystal thermal efficiency low and suitable for the LD pumped high power solid-state lasers was realized.It is a new type and the LD pumped high power solid-state lasers plus medium.In theory,Yb:YAG laser is more suitable for high average power,continuous wave and high repetition frequency pulse application,used as minitype high efficient laser.The Yb:YAG solid laser system have been realized kilowatt class laser output by LD pumped,is a primary way to obtain high efficient,high power,miniaturization and integration solid laser in the future.In this paper,mainly studied on Yb:YAG laser crystal for solid laser system.The Yb:YAG laser crystal was grown by Czochralski technique using intermediate frequency induction hester as heat energy supply.Its growth atmosphere nitrogen(N2) was neutral,the range of pulling rate was 1.0-2.0mm/h,the range of rotation rate was10-30r/min.After annealing in atmosphere,the as-grown crystals became colorless and transparent.Studied on machininged technique process of Yb:YAG crystal,and having machining microchip,batten and stick of Yb:YAG crystal,analyzed and tested their spectrum and laser properties.Using the Yb:YAG laser crystal component laser system,which made by us,a pulse output of 8mJ and a continuous wave output of 2.658W have been obtained at 1030nm by LD pumped.In theory analyzed optics equality of Yb:YAG crystal,discussed its estimated standard and influence complication.By tested the elements which have been machininged by us,all the extinction ratio were greater than 32.2dB,the interference fringe was 0.095 in.-1.Explored the thermal bonding techinc of YAG/Yb:YAG crystal,designed bonding technique process to supply theory basic for studying farther.
