With the development of the network technology of the computer, a lot of different wireless networks have come into existance. According to the present technical protocols and development trend in future, these networks can be divided into wireless area network (WAN), wireless local area network (WLAN) and wireless personal area network (WPAN). Among the three network types, WPAN has been developing in a fast speed recently and it enables people to get rid of the wired constraint and is also able to realize the wireless communication among various apparatus in the small area. Both Bluetooth and ZigBee that was introduced in December 2004 belong to WPAN network. Compared with two kinds of other networks, WPAN has the characteristics such as wide range of application, low power, low cost, suitable application of the wireless communication in a small area. The IEEE organization arranges almost all the protocols of WPAN in the 802.15 protocol cluster. IEEE802.15.4 is one of them included in the cluster, which defines the physical layer and MAC layer standard of Zigbee.Since the IEEE802.15.4 protocol has many advantages such as low consumption, the low cost and high stability and the fast developing application fields, it makes it possible to utilize the ZigBee technology in environment monitor and control which may offer facility and security to people.Although some big companies has developed and produced the dedicated wireless communication chip supporting IEEE802.15.4, such as MC13192 of Freescale Corporation, CC2420DB of Chipcon Corporation as well as Helicomm IPLink2.4GHz EZDK module of Helicomm Corporation and so on, the domestic can hardly get this kind of chip and corrisponding platform to work on with. To solve the problem, the paper puts forward a research solution that utilize an un-dedicated wireless communication chip to construct a communication simulation module and then the paper makes a research and evaluation of the wireless image transmission terminal based on that module.This paper summarizes the latest WPAN development tendency firstly, introduces the development and the prospect of the IEEE802.15.4 protocol. Then it carried on the thorough research to the protocol. According to the characteristics of IEEE02.15.4 and 8-BIT Soc chip system as well as the non-specific wireless module, this paper gives the design and implementation of the simulation module which supports the IEEE802.15.4 protocol.Using this module; author completes the multi-spots data transmission network design and the wireless image transmission terminal.The paper uses the approach of theory combining with real research, from theoretical to practice, and prove at the end.
