Influence On The Public Policy Participation With Reference To The Convergence Of The Mass Media

With the development of new media and information technology, people focus increasingly on the convergence of mass media and its influence on social structure and political development, etc. However, the research on this topic is very limited. According to the data revealed, systematic research on the new role of the mass media in the process of public policy participation has not been conducted yet. This thesis will explore why and how the convergence of mass media has great influence on public policy participation from a new perspective. This study will also contribute to the theorization of political communication. In addition, this research is helpful to policy reform and journalism reform, which are compulsory in china today.This thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter one is to analyze the development of mass media and to re-understand mass media's new characteristics. In chapter two, much attention is paid to the positive and negative influence brought from the mass media development in the process of the public policy participation. In chapter three, based on the analysis above, some effective measures are proposed to perfect the citizen policy participation system by mass media.
