The Research And Design Of EVO Platform Of IPTV Set-top Box System Based On Embedded Linux

The IPTV is a new technology which uses the monitor as the display device and is intergrated with internet, multimedia, and communication. IPTV can offer many multimedia services including digital TV. With the popularization of the wideband and digital TV, the market of IPTV is becoming bigger and biggerIn this paper the system will use the EM8620L which is designed by Sigma Designs to build the hardware system and use the EVO Platform to develop the software system .In this paper the comparison of the data compression and encoded format will be discussed. Furthermore the comparison of the transmission protocol of the network will be also discussed. As a conclusion the MPEG-4 will be chosen as the payload format of RTP packet. The structure of IPTV system is discussed in the paper including the hardware and software system. Then the specific designing of the system is presented, including the remote controller, RTP module, recorder and playback module. Finally, the Linux compiling and the porting of the EVO Platform is presented.In the end, the conclusion is made ,and the future application is prospecte-d.
