In this thesis, a data collection and control system is designed for the front end of a large-scale motor vehicle safety performance detecting station, and a design project is proposed employing redundant and fault tolerant CAN(Controller Area Network) bus to ensure the data transmission reliability of motor vehicle safety performance detecting&control system with multi-lines mode.Nowadays, mono-line mode is adopted in most domestic motor vehicle safety performance detecting&control system. With the boom of motor vehicle, the efficiency of the existing mono-line is far from requirement, and instead, multi-lines mode turns popular in automobile safety testing supervisory control system. At the same time, a lot of problems come out including the parallel transfer and the transfer speed of detecting data, the real-time performance and the system reliability, etc.As a modern field bus, CAN bus with its character of prominent reliability real-time and flexibility, is used widely now and it has many successful application in industrial control area. In this thesis, CAN bus is used as the system bus, concentrating the research on the feasibility of using redundancy CAN bus technology in large-scale motor vehicle safety performance detecting&control system. This thesis first gives an overall design of the data collection and control system applied to the front end of a large-scale motor vehicle safety performance detecting& control system. Regarding that the bus controller, bus driver and bus transfer medium would fail to function easily, the dual mode cold-redundancy structure is adopted in system to ensure the reliability. The data collection and control module based on C8051F021 is developed,which is used to process analog and digital signal in the field. The data is processed by the module and transmitted through the redundancy CAN bus using special application protocol to the host. The system examination platform to test bus switch property is built to prove the feasibility of using redundancy CAN bus. In the end, the summery and prospect of the research is given.
