The long term collection for hydrologic data calls for a reliable data memory model. Owing to the regular field work outside, a large-capacity data memory is required. Consequently, compare with the traditional data memory model, the design for an intelligentized USB terminal is of great importance for the data collection and large-capacity data on site memory.With the use of USB technology and large-capacity data memory technology, this paper proposes a study of the host interface based on the USB bus, which allows the access to the standard USB device. This paper studies the file system of FAT32 (compatible FAT 16), compatible all of the USB devices with USB 1.1 and USB2.0 protocol, thus allowing the USB Mass Storage device can access freely. The collected data at the spot can be stored and recorded in the form of documents, and can be recognized by PC freely. This would greatly expand the technical constraints of the traditional data monitoring terminals in the area of prolonged large-capacity data memory.Besides the application over hydrologic data memory, this devices also effectively applies among the on-site survey and data record, field mining survey, safety and fire protection, traffic intelligentized management, environmental protection, meteorology, geology, civilian application, digital camera, MP3, etc..
