The vehicle is one of the important means of transportation. With the fast economic growth and the rise of people's living standards, there are more and more vehicles on road. Traffic accidents happen frequently due to the quick rise of vehicles and other unsafe factors. Now, all the investigative work, analyses and statistics have to be done only after the accident. People have to infer the causes in accordance with the scene. So it's possible to make a mistake.This article adopts MPEG-4 compress algorithm, DSP technology and modern electronic technology, designed the development of image monitoring system for vehicle operations. On the base of the system design project, adopts ADSP-BF533 DSP chip designed system hardware, the system hardware consists of image acquisition module, IDE interface module, memorizer module , power module and reset module;the system software consists of host program, MPEG-4 compress encode, FAT32 files system, interrupt service program and CPLD logic control subroutine. The measures of resisting interference are taken in both hardware and software.The system has large-capacity video-image storage, compress and replay function, which can provide real-time record. The system has simple structure, less cost, high reliability, strong transportability and expandability. It can be not only used for monitoring vehicles but also widely applied in other fields such as finance, building, prison, public squares and communities. It has comprehensive application fields.
