Virtual Instrument (VI) is a new type high-tech production developed with modern computer, communication and measurement technology. The Virtual Instrument is the instrument using computer by the software to control the instrument hardware to analyze and provide the testing data. The appearance of the VI broke the traditional ideas of instrument design, and showed the future direction and trend of the instrument, and also provided a new path for our instrument industry development.Being the medium between Human and machine to transfer and exchange the information, Human-Machine Interface is the important part of the Virtual Instrument System. A humanistic Human-Machine Interface helps not only the efficiency of the VI Human-Machine System, but also the fast development of the Virtual Instrument in our country. The paper compared the interface of Virtual Instrument with the traditional instrument, analyzed the design elements of Human, Machine and the environment of the Virtual Instrument System with the method of Human Engineering, and on basis of the humanistic design concepts raised the designing principles of the hardware interfaces and the software interface under the theories of the Human Engineering, the Recognize-psychology and the aesthetics, and suggested the design flow and the evaluation method of the soft interface using the Users-cored method. It analyzed and designed the VI oscillograph and the general computer flat of Virtual Instrument based on the design principle of the VI Human-Machine interface through the analysis of interface elements of the Virtual Oscillograph. The paper also calls the humanistic design concepts to be respected by the designers. That is to shorten the distance between the designer and the user by the designing, to transfer the designer's thought and purpose to the users exactly, to remove the communication obstruction to serve the users and to transparentize the design.
