The development of communication and transportation industry has undoubtedly played an active role in the construction of national economy. Along with the development of the Highway Transportation, Industrial production and Business Trade, it is required that the Highway Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems have more qualification of modernization and scientization for the rapid automatically and the enforcement of the overloading rule.For the Highway Weigh-in-Motion systems, the weighing accuracy of the vehicle moving is the most import standard specification. It indicates the technical level of the WIM systems. While the weighing signal processing of the actual Weigh-in-Motion is simple digital filter and no further signal processing technique. So the WIM system's accuracy is hardly improved.Because there are so many factors that affect the WIM system's accuracy, and there are not exact function relations among those factors. While neural network has its own special advantage of processing non-linear and complex problems.In theory, from improving the WIM system's accuracy, this paper introduced neural network, and mostly introduced the basic idea, calculated process, executed steps and existed problems of BP network, and put forward the improved method based on those problems. Finally, the paper analyzed the performance of network. In hardware, the system use ADuC812 single-chip microcomputer and introduced the flow of software designing in detail. The WIM system of the paper described can implement not only the basic function of gathering data, processing data, display data, and query data ,but preserved the gathering data into the database and print in form..The system mainly use Visual C++ 6.0 in the front flat ,SQL Server 2000 in the database, the ActiveX control to communicate the serial , and use C language to write the code of the gathering data in the single-chip microcomputer.
