There are downloads and streaming transfers these two methods to transmit media information through the internet. A/V file is usually a little large, so it need the large memory;because of the limit of bandwidth, download usually takes minutes or hours. So the delay is large when using this method.Streaming media is a new and applied network technology in recent years. When it comes to streaming media, audio and video server offer the clients continuous and real-time voice and picture. It is unnecessary for clients to wait for downloading the whole file, but wait for seconds to watch. When playing, the rest of the file will download still. Streaming transfers not only shorten the time, but also minish the memory capacity. It has avoided the disadvantage that the clients must watch the video after downloading the whole file.Firstly, the paper introduces the technology of streaming media and the streaming media transport protocols, mainly research the RTP/RTCP which is widely used. Then discuss synchronization in streaming media system, including some different synchronization and the criterion of synchronization. Then research some key factors which can affect synchronization and give the methods to slove it, such as delay, clock, changes of transmitting and so on.At last, research the synchronization inside streaming media and synchronization between streaming medias. And demonstrate the available method to calculate the size of the buf. Then control the synchronization through the Self-adaptation arithmetic. This arithmetic can slove the contradiction between the effect of synchronization and the time to wait effectively. It provides a new way to realize synchronization in video meeting and video programmes.
